The "beta" relates most importantly to the following facts:
1. There's no easy installer in this update.
2. There's also not much need for it, as there is at the moment only one version, which is NOT voodoo-compatible, and probably only will run with acceptable fps on mid to high end systems. Some may find that the update runs slightly smoother with OpenGL than D3D.
